Why Is Data Recovery So Important?

With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation last May, the ability of any organisation to recover data in the event of a crisis has become much more of an issue.

Article 32 of the GDPR states that there should be “a process for regularly testing, assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of technical and organisational measures for ensuring the security of the processing”, essentially saying that organisations should have backup and disaster recovery strategies in place which are regularly tested for their effectiveness.

Data is a critical part of any business. Indeed, we’ve reached the point where organisations are taking a much closer look at their data – the data they have both in production and in secondary storage – in order to see how they can mine it for insight into customer/user behaviour in order to gain commercial advantage.

At Cristie Data we help businesses who need to update their data recovery processes to protect critical data. Our clients don’t want to wait days or weeks to recover in the event of data loss – they want to be up and running as quickly as possible.

Take Hazlewoods, one of the UK’s top 30 independent chartered accountants and business advisers. As their business grew they realised they needed to overhaul their approach to data protection but didn’t want the burden of having to manage it in-house. They turned to us for a scalable and secure cloud backup and disaster recovery solution. Now they can recover data within three hours.
